Q: What types of ideas are we interested in?

A: We are interested in new product or technology ideas across our Home and Health Care product lines, as well as new ideas that will help us expand into adjacent categories to these existing product lines.  More specifically we are looking for ideas in the area of air and water purification, home comfort and healthcare diagnostics.  Sales are primarily to consumers through retailer distribution channels, with some direct-to-consumer product distribution.

Q: What policy helps protect my idea submission?

A: In accordance with corporate policy, before considering ideas from people outside the corporation, we prefer, in the absence of positive protection such as an issued patent, that the submitter understand the terms and conditions under which we can undertake to evaluate his or her idea. For this purpose, we enclose our standard STATEMENT OF POLICY and SUBMISSION WAIVER.

Q: What happens to my idea after it is submitted?

A: Once submitted, the Idea Hub Innovation Team will review your idea submission to ensure that it is complete and that it fits within the requirements of Helen of Troy Health and Home. If it does, it will be forwarded to the appropriate representative for further review. This initial review process can take up to 45 days.  Within that 45-day period you will receive a second email explaining if there is any interest in pursuing your idea.

Q: How can I check on the status of my idea submission?

A: Currently there is not a process in place for this, if we are interested in pursuing your idea, we will let you know through our Idea Hub e-mail notification system or by contacting you in person.  If you have not heard from us within 45 days, please e-mail ideahub@helenoftroy.com with your name, the name of your idea, and when you submitted the idea to Idea Hub.

Q: Can I submit additional information such as photographs or drawings with my idea?

A: Yes, during the submission process there is a question that allows idea submitters to upload attachments or additional supporting documents.

Q: Who is the Helen of Troy Health & Home Innovation Team?

A: The Helen of Troy Idea Hub Innovation Team is made up of internal cross-functional team members that represent experts in the areas of marketing, technology, research & development, user experience/design, and entrepreneurship.

Q: What if I have an idea that is not a product idea (process improvement, business model idea)

A: Our focus with Idea Hub is mostly on product at this point so a non-product idea will not be tracked through the Idea Hub Innovation Process. You can, however, go to Submit Idea and enter in the name and description of the non-product idea and from there it will be forwarded by the Helen of Troy Idea Hub Innovation Team to the applicable department to take action.
